Skills

All versions of Diana depict her as a masterful athlete, acrobat, fighter and strategist, trained and experienced in many ancient and modern forms of armed and unarmed combat, including exclusively Amazonian martial arts. In some versions, her mother trained her, as Wonder Girl, for a future career as Wonder Woman. From the beginning, she is portrayed as highly skilled in using her Amazon bracelets to stop bullets and in wielding her golden lasso. She is a superior warrior who has beaten Batman, Big Barda, and Black Canary in sparring matches. The modern version of the character differs from her compatriots in that she is willing to use deadly force when she deems it necessary.

“Of all people, you know who I am…who the world needs me to be. I’m Wonder Woman.” -Infinite Crisis #1

Sir Kevin Bacon

That's right.  Kevin Bacon with bacon.
Yesterday, my English teacher asked the class to read essays by Sir Francis Bacon.  This naturally got me thinking about Kevin Bacon, and immediately the melody of "Footloose" floated through my mind.  I personally don't eat the food bacon, but I have come to find that America LOVES bacon...any kind of bacon! Whether you are a scholar and eat up the works of Francis, an avid movie buff who craves Kevin, or just the average pork enthusiast, it seems that everyone loves their bacon.  We can take that one kid from Wife Swap for example.  (He falls under the 'pork enthusiast' category).  This kid freaked out when his "new mom" cleared out the fridge of anything deemed unhealthy, including his precious bacon.  The kid went nuts, exclaiming, "I want my bacon! I got to tell you something, bacon is good for me. She thinks out of the blue she's a smart little girl that she can do whatever she wants. No, that's not how she can do it in our family."  Pretty compelling words.
And who can resist the swauve moves of one Kevin Bacon?  This man made strides in a small town where dance was forbidden.  What else can this modern-day Superman do?  Answer: everything.  Cause he's Kevin Bacon.
So my friends, bacon and Bacon are very important parts of society that should never be underestimated or degraded.

Oh, and that Francis guy?  Yeah, don't degrade him either. Cool.

Hey, Katie! This is for you!

I was on the phone with my best friend, Katie today and it came to my attention that I have not posted in awhile. (What!? I haven't posted in awhile? Sheer lunacy! The audacity of it all!) Dramatic? Perhaps.
So this post is dedicated to YOU, KATIE. Enjoy.
I looked up the name, Katie, on urbandictionary.com.  Fascinating site, by the way.  What I found was, "Katie: A happy person who is a good listener and a reliable friend.  Likes to party and is always there when you need her.  'Call Katie, she'll go out.'" <---I'm not sure if the last part was needed, but I included it anyway.  This definition is so true.  She is all of that AND has a really big computer! Talk about accomplishments.
I hope you all have a Katie in your life.  Without mine, I wouldn't have as many smiles or as much laughter...that is for sure!
(P.S. while I have been typing this entire message, my mother has been singing off key in the other room to American Idol...meh)
Buy Katie mugs, t-shirts, and magnets.  You'll regret it if you don't!

She likes ice cream.  Look at how happy her face is when she gets some. So happy!

This is us...on a regular basis.
